Joseph Haydn’s monumental work "The Creation," will be performed by the Festival Chorus and CMU Orchestra on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium on the campus of Central Michigan University.
Completed by Haydn when at the height of his powers and after nearly two years of work, "The Creation" is considered by many to be his masterpiece. Influenced by the Oratorio works of Handel, it is a large-scale work, calling for three soloists, large choral forces, and a substantial classical orchestra, including full brass, percussion, and continuo.
Directed by Nina Nash-Robertson, tickets cost $5 for students and senior citizens and $8 for all others, and can be purchased at the Central Box Office in the CMU Event Center or by calling 989-774-3045. Tickets are also available online at http://centralboxoffice.cmich.edu and at the door. For a complete program listing go to http://www.music.cmich.edu/events/all_events/
