Facilitated By: Doug Lapp, Mathematics

In this session, we will look at ways to use video and social media to encourage discourse, develop a sense of community, and provide formative assessment and “flipped” instruction. While having a computer is not required for the session, participants are encouraged to bring a laptop and smart phone for use in a hands-on session using Facebook and FlipGrid applications along with mirroring and video capture software. It will not be necessary to have all of the same applications installed on your computer, but we will download the free apps for smart phones and tablets to see how the students can interact with the social media environment. For the screencasting portion of the workshop, if you would like to follow along, we will be using Reflector 2 or 3 (for Mac or PC, free 7-day trial available, http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/features/mac-and-windows) along with an iPad for mirroring
